Supervisory Agricultural Specialist
Duties
The incumbent serves as the on-site supervisory manager of USDA APHIS International Services personnel and program operations in the Tijuana U.S. Consulate regional area. The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for a diverse range of plant health programs that include field (urban areas, airport, markets, etc.) activities, administrative, financial, and security functions, high-dollar value laboratory operations, outreach and strengthening relationships and cooperation directly related to, and in support of, binational cooperative plant and or animal health regulatory activities in Mexico. Theses programs protect U. S. agriculture by reducing and mitigating significant pest pressures of interest to the U.S. and Mexico. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient program management and identifying opportunities for continual improvement and advancement. Principal plant health program(s) of assignment are Fruit Flies, Citrus Diseases, and Agricultural Quarantine and Inspection (AQI). Other plant pest eradication and/or control program activities, and/or duties may be assigned as delegated by the Plant Health Attaché, and/or APHIS Mexico office, in accordance with U.S. Mission, USDA, and Mexico regulations, policies, and laws.
Requisitos:
Experience:Six (6) years of experience in plant health and/or pest management programs including detection, biocontrol, cultural control and chemical treatments. At least Three (3) years supervisory exp.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Science or Agricultural Degree in agronomy, plant sciences such as entomology, plant pathology, agricultural engineering, or related.
Certifications/Licenses: Valid Type A Driver’s license.
Language: fluent English and Spanish
